TUCSON, AZ (April 15, 2011) – The Coronado National Forest has posted an updated timeline for the Rosemont Copper Project on the Schedule for Proposed Actions (SOPA), which can be viewed at http://www.fs.fed.us/sopa/components/reports/sopa-110305-2011-04.html#4. The schedule is largely dependent on time needed for internal reviews which are ongoing to incorporate comments. The SOPA is updated every January, April, July and October and contains the best available information at the time. Information contained within the SOPA is subject to change. An internal working draft of the Rosemont Copper Project Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) is currently under internal review by the Forest Service’s Southwestern Regional Office and Washington Office. Cooperating Agencies and tribes will be afforded the opportunity to review an internal working draft DEIS after the forest addresses the Regional and Washington Office review findings. After all internal reviews have been addressed, the DEIS will be submitted for publication and public distribution. A public comment period of 90 days is planned following the Notice of Availability in the Federal Register. Public meetings will be held during the comment period to share information and receive written and oral comments. Public opportunities to comment on the DEIS will be noticed through the Federal Register, the Coronado National Forest’s media network in Southern Arizona, and the project website at www.RosemontEIS.us.
