Tucson, AZ (November 22, 2011) – The next public meeting to share information and hear public comments is scheduled for Thursday, December 1, 2011, in Corona de Tucson. The meeting will be held at the Corona Foothills Middle School, 16705 S. Houghton Road from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. This is one of several meetings being held in the communities potentially affected by the proposed Rosemont Copper Project, located roughly 30 miles southeast of Tucson in the Santa Rita Mountains just west of State Highway 83.
In response to public input, the Forest Service will structure this meeting to address the needs of the public to gather project information and make oral comments. From 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, an information area will be staffed by resource specialists to answer questions about the findings documented in the Draft Environmental Impact Statement.
For those wishing to make an oral comment, speaker cards will be available beginning at 5:00 p.m. and will be taken until 6:00 PM. Beginning at 5:30, there will be a short presentation by the Coronado Forest Supervisor, followed by oral comments from the public. Speakers will be called at random to make their comments. To hear as many comments as possible, each comment will be limited to 3 minutes in length. Any speaker cards received after 6:00 PM will be addressed if time allows.
